Sickle Cell Warrior
A fundraising campaign to help with medical and living expenses
A fundraising campaign to help with medical and living expenses
Tony has struggled and fought this fight since birth. Sickle Cell once again has him in fight mode for his life. He is currently healing after his latest two week stay in Advent Hospital.
Please help us to show support and strength for Tony's continued fight!
Tony was diagnosed with Sickle Cell Disease as an infant and has struggled with the effects for his entire life. Sickle Cell Disease is a condition that is passed down from parents, and is not contagious. It is a very painful and damaging disorder that affects about 100,000 people in the United States. The older a person gets, the more damage is done to the body, and the more difficult the day-to-day becomes.
Tony has worked his entire adult life, and has always had a strong work ethic. Despite the stress that his illness places on him, Tony has worked demanding jobs like meat cutter, landscaping and building trades. Sometimes getting a new job the day after he was released from treatment in the hospital. His most recent hospitalization cost him his job, but the disease has made working heavy labor too demanding.
From the time Tony was a teenager, he was drawn to martial arts. After the loss of his sister to the same disease, he used martial arts to focus himself while living with treatments and pain. Trying various styles, Tony eventually landed with Jukido JuJitsu. He made achieving the rank of black belt a life goal, and despite pain and fatigue, he never gave up.
Those that know Tony, know him to be a person of strong faith and conviction. Always ready to lend a hand to someone in need, never complains when things are hardest, and always works to overcome the challenges he's been handed. Tony's faith has carried him through severe hardships, not only with the disease, but also with the grief of personal loss. Tony lives alone, and has to rely on himself for his care and well being.
You can help today with your prayers, messages for strength and with a donation if you so choose. We thank you for your support. Tony desperately needs your help for medical bills, living expenses, and the funds to keep his housing. The impact this campaign will make for him will be life saving.
